Services

HRConnection allows the Executive Management to focus on running and growing the business, and supports those efforts through attending to the people part of it. In most cases, as a company grows, the owner is inundated with personnel issues and trying to balance that with running the business.   We work to keep the company in compliance with relevant employment laws; work with managers in managing their employees – helping with performance improvement & disciplinary actions; train; and introduce appropriate best practices.   Through our work we create collaboration, extraordinary teams, and a work environment that people embrace and enjoy. Employee engagement results directly in higher productivity and profitability. Employees in these environments get more done at work. They bring better attitudes to the job and are able to deal better with problems or issues that pop up during the day. Their higher levels of productivity, and their enhanced abilities to solve problems without losing their cool, add up to more profits for their employers.  Companies that empower and engage their employees are less likely to be sued by those employees or have employees that work the system.

All of this results in increased profitability to the company. All of this is calculated to help the employer to recruit & retain top talent, and decrease absenteeism and turnover. It’s a win/win for the employer and the employee.  This is where we shine.

HR Connections Employee Handbooks

Employee Handbooks

Keeping quality employees requires constant attention, creativity & innovation.  Your Employee Handbook is a guidebook to the organization’s policies, practices and procedures. It helps employees to know what to expect & provides them with a sense of security in knowing what to expect.  Many employers fear that an Employee Handbook will tie their hands in managing the company. However, just the opposite is true if the Handbook is done properly. It should be a reflection of the company’s vision and culture. No two organizations do things in exactly the same way.  Your handbook should be written to reflect what is unique to your organization. Some areas of employment are regulated and certain tenets need to be communicated to employees. In other areas of employment the employer has much freedom to implement policies that will work for the company while being legally compliant. As a trained and practiced policy developer, HRConnection has developed a variety of policies, particularly in the area of employee benefits, that are beneficial to both employer and employee.  It is also important to fully reflect all of the benefits to employees – these may include employee discounts, a fitness room, wellness programs, etc.

In addition, HRConnection will review your current policies and/or handbooks to ensure compliance with employment laws, as well as develop new policies or re-design existing policies to promote employee retention and assist in attracting top talent.

HR Connections Talent Management

Talent Management

To be the best you must hire the best.  Attracting, hiring, managing and retaining the area’s top talent – the best people for the positions you have open.

Talent management begins with attracting and recruiting the best people for your company.  It is crucial that these employees fit into the organizational culture you have created. To hire someone who has a tremendous skill set but does not fit with your organization will result in a lack of productivity and turnover. To borrow the Southwest Airlines recruiting motto – Hire for Attitude, Train for Skill.  Defined best practices in hiring will result in ensuring you are bringing the right people into the right jobs.

Once you have attracted & hired these employees, how you bring them into the organization will greatly impact how they perform in their job.  This is the process of Onboarding.  The first year in a new job determines much - whether a new employee will stay, their level of productivity, their level of commitment to the company and engagement in their job.  Making new employees feel welcomed and valued, providing the resources and training they require and assimilating them into their team and the organization from the outset is key to their future success.

Employee development  throughout the tenure of the employee with the organization will keep the employee engaged & working at their best, resulting in high productivity and a positive impact on the bottom line. In a recent survey, this ranked in the top 3 priorities of employees.  Effective employee development results in high retention and low turnover, absenteeism and presenteeism* and the corresponding loss of productivity. Performance planning and management are important parts of employee development.

*Presenteeism is an industry term that refers to employees who come to work but spend their time doing the minimal amount of their job and in other less than productive ways, e.g. web surfing, social networking, etc.

Once an employee is leaving the organization, it is important to end the relationship in a positive manner. Exit interviews with departing employees will help your organization to continue to improve in its employee relations. Maintaining positive relationships with retirees and employees who have professionally moved onto other opportunities, will keep positive word of mouth about your company  in the market as well as keep the door open to the employee should they want to return.

When it is time to transition an employee out of the organization, assisting them through the transition will help both your company and the employee. Outplacement services provide the employee with resume and cover letter writing help, interview techniques and tips, and assistance in navigating the job market and various resources such as LinkedIn.  By helping your employee transition out of your organization you keep your unemployment costs controlled as well as limit the negative buzz about your organization as this person speaks to others including your customers, potential customers and potential employees.

HR Connections Compliance

Compliance

From your first contact with a job applicant until their last day of employment, state and federal regulations govern nearly every aspect of the employee/employer relationship. The cost of not being in compliance with relevant employment laws can be staggering.  Most of the time, non-compliance is due to owners and managers not fully understanding the many and varied employment regulations that govern their business. Many employers with fewer than 50 employees believe they are not on the radar of employment law at all.  However, employment laws affect businesses with as few as a single employee. And as your company grows, the number of regulations you must comply with grows as well.  With HRConnection you don’t have to go it alone.

At HRConnection, we recognize the essential nature of this aspect of our field.  This is the most crucial thing we do. It is also how we earn your trust.  And we are 100% committed to it.  Most HR professionals struggle just to keep up with their day-to-day responsibilities. They use periodic seminars, annual legal updates and HR news alerts to stay in touch with the ever changing landscape of employment law.  At HRConnection we do this on a daily basis.  This allows us to bring the most up-to-date information to our clients.
